HOP TO IT FOR HOPWA
Wednesday, April 20, is the last day for U.S. senators to sign on to a letter asking for increased funding for the vital Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS program. As of last midweek last week, only three senators—Cantwell (D-WA), Kennedy (D-MA) and Reed (D-RI)—had joined cosponsors Durbin (D-IL) and Martinez (R-FL) in signing the letter. Now is the time to contact your senators and mobilize your networks asking others to do the same. Simply:
- Call the Capitol switchboard at 202.225.3121 and ask for your senator's office.
- When you're connected, ask to speak to the staffer that handles housing.
- Tell the staffer that you want your senator to sign the letter sponsored by Senators Durbin and Martinez to HUD appropriators asking for increased funding for HOPWA.
- Repeat with your other senator.
Act now!
