This Friday, Alabammy's top activist enlightens New Yorkers on fighting AIDS, Dixie-style

Housing Works Bookstore Cafe
Friday, May 6th at 7pm
Admission is free but donated books are welcomed and encouraged.

Kathie M. Hiers, the Chief Executive Officer of AIDS Alabama, appears to discuss their groundbreaking work forwarding AIDS activism in an inhospitable climate. AIDS Alabama is a nonprofit organization that provides housing and supportive services to low-income persons with HIV/AIDS as well as education, outreach, and testing. Subcontracting with the other nine AIDS Service Organizations in the state of Alabama, AIDS Alabama helps to provide services to all 67 counties. Hiers will be available to answer questions after her talk.

AIDS Alabama devotes its energy and resources statewide to helping people with HIV/AIDS live healthy, independent lives and works to prevent the spread of HIV.

Kathie M. Hiers is the Chief Executive Officer of AIDS Alabama. Nationally, Hiers was recently elected Co-Chair for the Southern AIDS Coalition (SAC). She also serves on the Boards of Directors for the National AIDS Housing Coalition (NAHC), the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA), and the Ryan White Title II Community AIDS National Network (TII CANN), and served as the regional coordinator of last year's AIDSWatch in Washington, D.C., the nation's largest gathering of HIV-positive citizens and AIDS advocates.
